THE UPADE: Lil Wayne Announces ‘Sorry 4 the Wait 2’ Release Date

The wait is almost over. Lil Wayne has set an official release date for his mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait 2.
The project will arrive on Tuesday, Jan. 20, he revealed in a YouTube trailer entitled “I’m So Sorry.” In the one-minute clip, Weezy also previewed his remix to ILoveMakonnen’s Metro Boomin-produced track “Maneuvering.”.
Earlier in the week, he dropped a remix to Future’s “Sh!t,” on which he apologizes to his fans for the delay and addresses his fallout with Cash Money.
Weezy continues to battle with Birdman, while Tha Carter V still awaits a release date.

NEWS:Beyoncé and Jay Z Attend Clippers Game

Beyoncé and Jay Z were spotted courtside at the L.A. Clippers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game at Staples Center on Friday (Jan. 16).
Mr. Carter sported a camouflage BAPE hat and a pair of Pusha T’s King Push x EQT adidas sneakers, while Bey wore a fedora, leather leggings, and a black-and-gold varsity jacket with “Yonce” written on it. The couple was all smiles as they cheered on their pal LeBron James, whose team defeated the Clippers 126-121.
The Carters continued their date night with a visit to an L.A. restaurant.
Meanwhile, Funkmaster Flex has declared war against Jay Z and posted what he claims is a text from Hov. He plans to air him out during his Hot 97 show tonight.

New Music: Lupe Fiasco – ‘Mural’

Just days after quitting Twitter, the unpredictable Lupe Fiasco liberates “Mural,” another song off his album Tetsuo & Youth. On the nearly nine-minute track, the outspoken MC drops some knowledge with his enlightening and witty words.
His final album for Atlantic Records will be released on Jan. 20 featuring Ab-Soul, Trae Tha Truth, Fam-Lay, Guy Sebastian, Glasses Malone, and more.

In an interview with Billboard, Lupe shared his support for Iggy Azalea and explained why he has no concern for relevancy.
“I don’t want to be relevant today,” he said. “There is a new generation speaking to a new generation, so you have a Kendrick Lamar and a J. Cole and the other people who are the new Lupes. I don’t have the same lingo. I don’t sip lean or smoke weed. I can’t compete with a Wiz Khalifa for the attention of a 12-year old.

New Music: Frank Ocean – ‘You Are Luhh (At Your Best)’ [Aaliyah Tribut

In honor of what would have been Aaliyah’s 36th birthday, Frank Ocean pays homage to the late singer with a cover of The Isley Brothers’ 1976 classic “At Your Best (You Are Love),” which Aaliyah covered for her 1994 debut Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number.
The Grammy-winning crooner took to his Tumblr page to share the tender tribute, which features him singing in a falsetto.
In November, Ocean teased a new song called “Memrise” and was recently in the studio with Lil B.
He has been working on the follow-up to his 2012 Grammy-winning album channel ORANGE with producers including Hit-Boy and Rodney Jerkins.

New Music: Cam’ron & Jim Jones – ‘Victory’ (Jay Z Diss)

In the wake of Funkmaster Flex’s beef with Jay Z’s website Life+Times, Cam’ron and Jim Jones come to the Hot 97 DJ’s defense with a diss of their own. Over Puff Daddy’s “Victory” beat, the Diplomat rappers throw shots at their Roc Nation rival.
“Having money, that don’t make you a real one / You stepped on the court, you gon’ play my game / Just take shawty’s advice and say my name,” raps Killa Cam.
On Thursday, Flex went on a rant against Hov and accused his team of stealing his app concept.
Dipset announced their reunion and dropped the Vinny Idol-produced “Have My Money” earlier this month. Cam, Jim, Juelz Santana, and Freekey Zekey plan to tour and release a mixtape hosted by Flex, DJ Mustard, DJ Khaled, and Swizz Beatz.

NEWS: Rihanna Goes Courtside at Lakers Game

After going ringside for Roc Nation Sports’ throne boxing in Brooklyn last weekend, Rihanna hit the West Coast for another sporting event.
The singer cheered on the L.A. Lakers as they took on the Cleveland Cavaliers at Staples Center on Thursday (Jan. 15). Puma’s new creative director looked sexy and sporty in her Puma gear as she snacked on popcorn and beer alongside her BFF Melissa Forde and DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.
The 26-year-old will oversee the direction of Puma’s womenswear line. As part of a multi-year partnership, she will also act as Puma’s global brand ambassador and star in the brand’s fall ad campaign.
RiRi provides the voice of Tip opposite “Big Bang Theory” star Jim Parsons in DreamWorks Animation’s animated flick Home, which hits theaters on March 27.
Her highly-anticipated eighth album is also due this year. Last year, she teased snippets of two songs including “Kiss It Better” and a Mike WiLL Made-It-produced track.
If that wasn’t enough, she has also collaborated with Kanye West on a song for his upcoming album, which features Paul McCartney and Ty Dolla $ign.

NEWS:Nick Cannon Files for Divorce from Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are officially calling it quits. After months of separation, the “America’s Got Talent” host has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife of six years.
According to TMZ, Cannon was the first one to file for divorce, ahead of his estranged wife on Dec. 12.
The pop diva made headlines just one week before Cannon’s reported filing when she showed up late to tape a performance for NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” on Dec. 3.
Carey was reportedly on the phone with her lawyers going over terms of her property settlement, which coincides with Cannon filing papers a week later, after they worked out a deal.
Reports of their split first broke in August. The couple wed in April 2008 in the Bahamas and share three-and-a-half-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
On Wednesday, Carey officially announced her Las Vegas residency. She will headline a series of 18 shows, entitled “Mariah Carey #1’s,” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in May and July.

Tyga is entering the world of reality TV. The “Rack City” rapper has landed his own series on MTV.
According to TMZ, the show will be similar to Rob Dyrdek’s “Fantasy Factory,” but with a rapper.
One thing that you won’t see is his love life. His baby mama Blac Chyna and rumored girlfriend Kylie Jenner will not appear on the show—and that’s the way he wants it.
Instead, Tyga’s opulent life and friends will be the focus. His pal Chris Brown has already filmed a segment, and the show is set to air in the spring.
Earlier this week, Tyga and Chris shot a video for “Ayo,” the first single from their upcoming joint album Fan of a Fan 2.

We're told Chris Brown already filmed a segment with Tyga. The rapper says the show is set to start airing in the spring.

NEWS; Nick Cannon Files for Divorce

Nick Cannon beat Mariah Carey to the courthouse ... we've learned he has quietly filed for divorce.

The timing is interesting. We found out Nick filed papers December 12. The date is relevant because on December 3, Mariah showed up 3 hours late to tape a segment for the NBC tree-lighting special.

At the time we posted a story ... Mariah was on the phone with her lawyers going over the terms of her property settlement. That syncs up with Nick filing papers a week later, after they hashed out a deal.

Short story ... Mariah has completely detached Nick from her new, very lucrative deal in Vegas.

NEWS; Chris Brown’s Probation Revoked in Rihanna Case

Chris Brown can’t catch a break. The R&B superstar has had his probation revoked in the Rihanna assault case after he traveled without approval for a concert and failed to complete community service on time.
The Grammy-winning singer showed up to an L.A. courtroom for a progress report on Thursday (Jan. 15). The judge reprimanded him for performing at a recent show in San Jose without obtaining permission to travel. His attorney Mark Geragos told the judge that his office incorrectly advised Brown that he didn’t need permission to travel (via AP).
Brown was also supposed to complete 1,000 hours of community labor by the end of January, but he is still 200 hours short.
Additionally, the probation report expressed concern over Sunday’s shooting at a San Jose club. Brown was on stage when five people were injured.
The judge also noted an August 2014 shooting that occurred while Brown was hosting a pre-VMA party at 1OAK in West Hollywood. Several people were shot including Suge Knight.

The probation officer recommended that Brown serve time, saying that the singer has shown “a pattern of making choices that are counterproductive.”
Brown will remain free until a March 20 hearing when the judge will receive an update from probation officials.
He is scheduled to kick off his “Between the Sheets Tour” with Trey Songz on Jan. 28 in Hampton, Va.

Lights, camera, action. Chris Brown and Tyga hit the mean streets of L.A. this week to shoot a video for “Ayo,” the first single off their upcoming joint album Fan of a Fan 2. With Colin Tilley in the director’s chair, the two got in the driver’s seat and raced their fast whips throughout downtown.
Breezy and Tyga were decked out in mink coats and Timberlands as they performed atop a high-rise at night, while T-Raww was reportedly joined on set by his rumored girlfriend Kylie Jenner.
Mike Epps plays a “crooked ass cop” in the fast-and-furious clip. The comedian challenged Breezy to a crip walk-off on set.

The song samples Nas & Bravehearts’ 2000 hit “Oochie Wally,” while the video features additional cameos from Tyrese, Kid Ink, and Mally Mall.

It’s cold outside, but Ne-Yo has just the video to keep you warm this winter. The ladies’ man heats things up in the summery and sexy video for “Coming With You” off his upcoming album Non-Fiction, due Jan. 27.

In the Colin Tilley-directed clip, the dapper crooner hits the beach (in a colorful wardrobe, no less) with some gorgeous girls, who strut their stuff on the runway. The party continues after the sun sets as Ne-Yo dances on the sandy shores with his female friends, taking in all the eye candy.
The upbeat dance track can be found on Ne-Yo’s sixth album, which also features ScHoolboy Q, T.I., Jeezy, and Juicy J.

Justin Bieber is getting a co-sign from a major player. The pop superstar hit the studio with iconic producer Rick Rubin this week.
The Biebs posted a photo of himself with the Def Jam founder, who’s produced for countless hip-hop legends including Jay Z, Beastie Boys, Eminem, Run–D.M.C., and Kanye West.

His manager Scooter Braun also posted the pic on Instagram with the caption, “Working on some history! Rick and JB.”
According to TMZ, the two linked up for their first studio session on Tuesday night. Bieber is reportedly going for an “urban” sound on his upcoming album, due sometime this year.
This would not be his first foray into hip-hop. His 2012 album Believe included collaborations with Drake, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj, while 2013’s Journals featured Lil Wayne, Future, and Chance the Rapper

New Music: Future – ‘Just Like Bruddas’

While his ex-fiancée Ciara puts him on blast on her single “I Bet,” Future is going on the record as well. The Freeband Gang leader liberates “Just Like Bruddas,” another Zaytoven-produced track off their collaborative mixtape Beast Mode.
On the piano-driven track, Future Hendrix addresses his relationship with the “Body Party” singer. The couple, who have a son together, reportedly split amidst reports of Future’s infidelity.
“Shit ain’t been the same / They talkin ’bout me on the ‘Gram / They say I turned my back on my baby mama,” he raps.
Beast Mode drops tomorrow featuring the previously released “Real Sisters.”

New Music: Dawn Richard feat. Aundrea Fimbres – ‘Phoenix’

On the eve of her album release, Dawn Richard reunites with fellow Danity Kane member Aundrea Fimbres on “Phoenix.” The former bandmates sing about redemption on the triumphant track, produced by Noisecastle III. “You hoped I’d be blind / Didn’t want me to see my star shine,” they sing over the throbbing beat.

Oh snap. Ciara is back and putting her ex on blast on “I Bet,” the first single off her upcoming sixth album.
On the mid-tempo jam, produced by Harmony Samuels and co-written by Ciara and Rock City, a hurt CiCi sings about a lover who did her wrong, much like her ex-fiancé Future. The former couple, who has an eight-month-old son together, reportedly called off their engagement after rumors of Future’s infidelity.

“You know that it hurts your pride / But you thought the grass was greener on the other side.”

She also credits herself for putting him on to that new (“You actin’ like you upgraded me, I upgraded you”) and calls out his new chick. “Is that your bitch over there givin’ me the ugly stare / The one with the silicone ass and the Brazilian hair,” sings CiCi.
But despite the past, she surprisingly still has love for him. “I’m singing this song ’cause I love you… Right now it’s killing me ’cause now I have to find someone else when all I wanted was you.”
While it comes from a personal place, Ciara hopes the raw and emotional song will resonate with others. “I imagine this song will be very meaningful for a lot of people. It is much bigger than any one person’s experience,” she tells Billboard.
She has also been in the studio with Polow Da Don, Dr. Luke, and Diane Warren working on the follow-up to 2013’s Ciara, due this spring

NEWS; Cortez Bryant Defends Lil Wayne Against Cash Money

Lil Wayne has been very vocal about his fallout with Cash Money. Now his longtime manager Cortez Bryant is speaking out in his defense.
Bryant, who remained coy when asked about the beef last month, took to Instagram on Monday night to address the ongoing feud between Birdman and Weezy.
In December, Wayne tweeted that he wants off Cash Money, and that his album Tha Carter V won’t be released because Birdman refuses to put it out.

In his open letter, Bryant saluted Wayne for his loyalty and for building the careers of Nicki Minaj and Drake. He also vowed to defend his client’s hard work.
“He don’t deserve the shit he’s going through at this point in the game,” he wrote. “[Young Money president] @mackmaine and myself will not let this dream die WE GOT US!”
He was optimistic about the future, and promised other Young Money artists including Lil Twist, Cory Gunz, and Shanell that they will get their shot.
“Once we unlock these chains, it’s on Young Money!” he said.

New Music: Gwen Stefani & Pharrell – ‘Shine’

Hot on the heels of “Spark the Fire,” Gwen Stefani and Pharrell team up again for “Shine” off the Paddington soundtrack. “The Voice” coaches spread some sunshine on the feel-good and family-friendly track.
“What a wonderful opportunity, as a parent, to contribute to something as classic, authentic, and generational to all of our lives, as Paddington Bear,” said Pharrell, who has a six-year-old son named Rocket.

The film, which follows the comic misadventures of a young bear, hits theaters on Jan. 16. Meanwhile, Gwen has been in the studio with Benny Blanco, Calvin Harris, and Charli XCX working on her first solo album since 2006’s The Sweet Escape.

NEWS; Usher Is Engaged to Manager Grace Miguel

Usher is headed down the aisle once again. The R&B superstar is engaged to his girlfriend and manager Grace Miguel.
The singer, 36, recently proposed to Miguel, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.
Miguel is eight years older than Usher and has worked with him for over three years.
“I have an incredible partner and manager,” Usher told Billboard in October. “She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career.”
Usher has two sons, seven-year-old Usher “Cinco” Raymond V and six-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond, from his previous relationship with ex-wife Tameka Foster. The two divorced in 2009.

While Drake does Coachella and the Governors Ball, Kendrick Lamar will hold down Bonnaroo. The Compton MC is among the performers for this year’s festival.
In addition to K-Dot, the 2015 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival lineup includes hip-hop and R&B acts such as Childish Gambino, Run the Jewels, DeJ Loaf, G-Eazy, and SZA.
Billy Joel will headline following Kanye West and Elton John last year. Other performers include Mumford & Sons, Deadmau5, and Florence + the Machine.

Nicki Minaj has been outspoken and emotional about her breakup with longtime boyfriend Safaree “ScaffBeezy” Samuels. On Tuesday, Nicki’s ex stopped by “The Breakfast Club” to tell his side of the story         .
SB served as executive producer on her first two albums, Pink Friday and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. “Decisions weren’t made without me. That was my soulmate,” he told Charlamagne, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee.
While sipping out of a Styrofoam cup, he opened up about their highly-publicized split. “People thought I was just a hype man, nah. Me and her was the ones calling all the shots,” he said.
They met when they were both in a group called The Hoodstars. “We were friends at first and then it turned into a relationship.”
Despite their breakup, he won’t disparage her. “I would never do anything publicly to pull her down,” he said.
Nicki has been quoted as calling him corny. “I just think it’s crazy for her to come out now and try to be pulling me down, try to say I’m corny.”

According to SB, Nicki is not the one who called off the relationship. “I walked away from the situation. I’m not gonna say I broke it up, but I walked away. I’m the one who packed my stuff and I left.”
After 12 years together, he no longer felt like her equal. “It just got to the point where the respect was gone,” he said. “It got to the point where I was being treated like an employee instead of like her man.”

Both have moved on. Nicki is rumored to be dating Meek Mill, who SB introduced her to. “If that’s who she decides to move on with then it is what it is. I’m not mad. I’m not bitter. If I wanted to make it work, I could’ve made it work.”
When asked why he didn’t try and salvage their romance, he responded, “You can’t put a price on peace of mind.”
He wasn’t planning to do any interviews, but was upset after Nicki’s response to Lil Duval on Twitter. “When you try and pull me down and discredit what I’ve done for you, that’s what’s weak to me,” he said.
He also revealed that he was in the studio when she wrote her lyrics. “Everytime it came to writing raps and doing music, it was her, me, and the beat. She doesn’t do it by herself. It’s me and her. Don’t discredit me on what I’ve done for you.”

“That’s my soulmate. We just can’t be together.”

He also responded to critics who say she was financially supporting him. “Everything that I have, we got together,” he said. “All my cars, everything I got is in my name.”
Despite everything, he still has love for his ex. “That’s my soulmate. We just can’t be together.”

Christina Aguilera is getting ratchet with the help of platinum hitmakers Da Internz.
The Chicago production duo behind Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” and Big Sean’s “Dance (A$$)” have been cooking up a new genre of music for the pop diva’s upcoming album.
“The best way I could describe it is called that gourmet ratchet,” Kosine, one half of Da Internz, told Rap-Up TV. “It’s upper echelon music with ratchet hood drums and…caviar ratchet.”
“We’re serving it on gold platters, 14K,” added Tuo. “You wanna know what Christina’s music sounds like? 14K caviar ratchet, serving with three fingertips.”

“It’s just really cool because we’re not doing nothing different. We’re not changing, we’re Da Internz,” said Kosine. “We’re doing what we think is affordable healthcare in the music industry and for people to buy into the sounds is just really, really exciting. Christina’s new album, the follow-up to 2012’s Lotus, is due later this year.

News; Eminem Grants Terminally Ill Fan’s Wish

Eminem is making dreams come true. The Detroit rapper granted a terminally ill fan’s dying wish.
Gage Garmo, 17, was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Osteoarcoma. His dream was to meet his idol Eminem. With approximately one week to live, his friends and family organized a campaign using the hash tag #GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem.
Through the power of social media and the Detroit community, Em heard about Gage’s story and visited Gage at his home in Michigan, which is about 20 minutes from where Em lives.

According to TMZ, Em quietly arrived to Gage’s home around 5 p.m. on Sunday and spent around an hour talking and hanging out with the Rochester High School student.
Eminem was adamant that he wanted to avoid the media spectacle and Gage was in good spirits during their meeting.
Friends and fans celebrated the successful mission, and Em’s Bad Meets Evil partner Royce Da 5’9″ thanked supporters for making it happen.
“Mission accomplished,” said Royce. “God Bless this beautiful kid and thank you guys for all your hard work.”

He will join Chris Brown on their “Between the Sheets Tour,” which kicks off Jan. 28 in Hampton, Va.

It’s Tunechi time. While we wait for Tha Carter V, Lil Wayne is holding fans over with his upcoming mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait 2. The Young Money chief comes back swinging on the first release, a remix to Future’s “Sh!t,” on which he apologizes to his fans for the wait and promises not to let them down.
“I’m bumpin’ Carter V on the iPod / My bitch mad as hell ’cause it ain’t out yet / She said soon as these ni**as see your new shit / They gon’ have to give their styles back,” he raps.
He also addresses his highly-publicized fallout with Birdman and Cash Money. “Did my time at Cash Money / Time served and released, but this agent ain’t free.”

Video: Common & John Legend – ‘Glory’

Fresh off their win for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes, Common and John Legend debut the video for “Glory” off the Selma soundtrack. In between powerful scenes from the civil rights drama starring David Oyelowo, Oprah Winfrey, and Common himself, the Chicago MC preaches to the people, while Mr. Legend plays piano.
“Selma has awakened my humanity,” said Common during his acceptance speech on Sunday. “We look to the future and we want to create a better world. Now is our time to change the world. Selma is now.”
Common and John Legend may soon be adding more awards to their mantles. On Thursday, they will find out if they are nominated for an Oscar when the Academy Awards nominations are announced.

Video: Beastie Boys feat. Nas – ‘Too Many Rappers’

In 2011, the Beastie Boys collaborated with Nas on a song called “Too Many Rappers” for their final album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. Four years later, an unreleased video has surfaced via film editor Neal Usatin (via Pitchfork).
Directed by Roman Coppola, the grainy clip features footage of the late MCA, Ad-Rock, Mike D, and Nas on the road and rapping through the aisles of a grocery store.
